The Life Time Sea Otter Classic – April 16-19, 2026

Each year thousands of cycling enthusiasts descend upon the historic Laguna Seca Recreation Area in scenic Monterey, California to attend the world’s largest bicycle festival – the Life Time Sea Otter Classic. Featuring a consumer expo with 1,000+ exhibitors, bike races in nearly every cycling discipline, family and kids activities, recreational rides and more, the Sea Otter Classic offers something for everyone. In 2026, the Sea Otter Classic will be held April 16-19.

Producing the Life Time Sea Otter Classic requires over 1,100 volunteers and thousands of volunteer hours. The Sea Otter Classic Foundation works with local nonprofit, civic, and military groups to schedule volunteers to support all areas of the event. In turn, volunteer hours count toward financial grants which groups earn based on the hours their volunteers contribute. In 2025, the Sea Otter Classic Foundation awarded nearly $90,000 in financial grants to 45 organizations in the local tri-counties of Monterey, Santa Cruz, and San Benito.

Our volunteer groups include a wide range of civic organizations, clubs, human service agencies, churches, military groups, and more. In addition to earning money for their organization, volunteers receive a 4-day event pass, a t-shirt, and lunch/snacks. We also welcome individual volunteers!

Volunteer jobs range from serving as course marshals, monitoring family zone rides, staffing information booths, and working in the bike valet.
