LEADERSHIP & GOVERNANCE

Sea Otter Classic Foundation is a community-focused nonprofit led by an Executive Director and governed by a volunteer Board of Directors. Together, our leadership provides strategic direction, program oversight, and stewardship of the Foundation’s mission.

Melanie leads the Foundation’s programs, partnerships, operations, and community engagement. With more than 15 years of nonprofit experience, her work has focused on community service, program development, volunteer engagement, and collaborative partnerships. As Executive Director, she oversees the Foundation’s work with the Life Time Sea Otter Classic as well as its broader community programs and partnerships.

BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Frank Yohannan, CEO/President & Founder

Frank Yohannan is co-founder of the Sea Otter Classic and President of the Sea Otter Classic Foundation. Before launching Sea Otter in 1991, Frank served 22 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, including combat aviation assignments during the Vietnam War, and retired as a lieutenant colonel. A longtime cyclist, Frank has spent more than three decades helping build connections through cycling, recreation, and community engagement. His leadership continues to guide the Foundation’s mission and its commitment to supporting the community.

Andrew H. Swartz, CFO/Treasurer

Andrew is a longtime Monterey attorney and partner with Swartz & Kennedy, where he has practiced civil litigation for many years. As Treasurer of the Sea Otter Classic Foundation, Andrew brings legal experience, community perspective, and a commitment to responsible stewardship and governance. An avid cyclist and longtime endurance sports enthusiast, he also shares the Foundation’s commitment to active, healthy communities.

Melanie Stackpole, Secretary

In addition to serving as Executive Director, Melanie serves as Secretary of the Board of Directors. In this governance role, she supports the Board’s work in organizational oversight, planning, and stewardship of the Foundation’s mission.
